Requirements
The Schmidt Technology web site is best suited for viewing with Microsoft Internet Explorer,
versions 4 and up, oder Netscape Navigator, versions 4s and up. JavaScript
should be activated. Screen resolution should not be less than 800x600. 32768
colour display or better (High Color) is recommended for optimal appearance. The Macromedia
Flash plugin (version 3.0 or later) is necessary to view animated content in some pages.
Technical documentation of products is best viewed in PDF format with Adobe Acrobat Reader, version 3.0 or better.
If you have not installed Acrobat Reader software, you can access the information in a Microsoft Word 97 document that is available on the "Product Overview" page
in each section of the web site.
In case of problems with PDF files and Adobe Acrobat
Certain system configurations may encounter difficulties while displaying PDF files. For instance, empty browser windows may appear after opening several PDF documents in a row,
or navigation in Microsoft Internet Explorer may be blocked.
The following measures will help to solve these problems:
-
Click on the link to the document of interest with the right mouse button and select the "Save as..." option from the context menu. Download the file
to a local folder on your hard disk.
Then, launch Acrobat Reader as a stand-alone program (from the Start menu or a desktop link) and open the document from the "File" menu of Acrobat Reader.
Alternatively, double-click the icon of the downloaded PDF file. If installed correctly, Acrobat will automatically start and open the file.
- If you have Netscape Navigator/Communicator installed additionally to Microsoft Internet Explorer, you may achieve better results when using the Netscape product for
accessing PDFs.
- If problems with Adobe Acrobat documents persist, try using the Word documents instead. They are available on the Product Overview pages. However, they are larger in size and may not be displayed identically on all systems.
- For system administrators: Microsoft lists several known issues concerning PDFs and Internet Explorer (Knowledge Base articles
177321
and
192726). These affect versions 3 to 5 and may be caused by security and rating settings.
Alterations to the object model in IE have caused compatibility problems with older versions of Acrobat.
Furthermore, problems may arise in networks. According to Microsoft, a number of older server software packages including IIS 2.0
cause such problems due to the way they handle PDF documents, and this may also affect proxy servers used in corporate networks.
- Early versions of Adobe Acrobat Reader 4.0 were buggy. Version 4.05 is a recommended upgrade.
- In general, incomplete or incorrect deinstallation of a previous software version preceding an upgrade may cause problems in the Windows registry or
or conflicts between different DLL versions that under some circumstances are only resolved after complete reinstallation of the operating system. It is especially important to verify that deinstallation has occured correctly before upgrading Adobe Acrobat Reader.
Navigation
The main topics of the site are accessible from the menubar at the top:

automotive sensors.
In many cases, these chapters are subdivided to present the products in an organized manner, e.g.
mechanical presses. In such cases the menu at left will expand to reveal the individual product pages.
Your current location within the structure of the Schmidt Technology site is highlighted with a green box in the menu.
